Social Value and SMEs
Our client, a business advice and support organisation, wanted to help its membership and partners differentiate their business offers by adopting social value principles.
We helped by providing strategic advice and support in terms of adapting social value to a range of business types, especially SMEs, including developing a strategy and associated plans to guide their future support and training offer to their members.
Housing apprenticeships
We led the programme to develop new apprenticeships in housing as part of the trailblazer process. This required sector-wide engagement with partners in the private and affordable housing sectors, professional bodies, providers, and awarding bodies, who agreed on new occupational standards and assessment processes to meet the sector's needs.
We successfully developed apprenticeships at level 2, 3 and 4 providing professional pathways in the sector for new entrants as well as existing staff to support professional development and aligned these with professional standards maintained by the Chartered Institute of Housing. Our aim is to complete the professional pathway to chartered status.
Apprenticeship market development
Our client, an Further Education college group, wanted a full understanding of the possible apprenticeship market within their area of operation. We undertook a full analysis of the current market, demographics and competitors within the area. We met with and explored opportunities for growth with staff and partners, and examined skills and capacities across the respective teams.
Our report provided a full analysis of the apprenticeship market and segmentation of areas of under-provision and opportunities for the client to expand and enhance their provision. Further, the report made recommendations in respect of staffing needs, especially in business development and sector staffing structures to maximise their apprenticeship offer.
Employment support services
Our client, a significant affordable housing provider, wanted to explore how it could enhance and develop its employment advice and support services for its tenants. The brief sought options in terms of the scale, model and structures that would maximise the impact of their work.
We worked closely with the client team in understanding their local needs, delivery geography, local employment markets and demographics, as well as exploring alternate delivery models. As a result, we developed a bespoke series of recommendations to enhance the team's offer, support a greater number of clients and increase the effectiveness of the service provided.
